As a woman sets out on a journey to forget, swimming through a sea of bittersweet memories, Salt Song explores how we remember. Film-maker Andy Wood will premiere a film representation of the work at this year’s Coastival in Scarborough, 14-16 February; Andy’s film can be seen at The Spa.
Salt Song was premiered with two live performances made for Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds in September 2013, presented by Imove in association with FuseBox. Salt Song combines film, music and poetry to trigger the senses, evoking memories of the sea, and the sea shore. We’re now looking for new venues and partners for Salt Song. Contact us if you’re interested.
The performance features original poetic narrative written and performed by award-winning poet, former Parliamentary Writer in Residence and Keats House Poet-in-Residence, Rommi Smith. Watch our showcase film for a taster.
An original score composed by Dave Kane to interact with and compliment the performance and film, will be played live by The Salt Song Band, an ensemble of some of the best musicians from the British Jazz scene, including award winning pianist Matthew Bourne and the internationally acclaimed vocal trio Royst.
